GO WITH IT

NOTHING EXPECTED. EVERYTHING DISCOVERED.

My first flight was at six months old, and I grew up a regular at the airport, picking up dad from his business trips and traveling to see grandparents every summer. I loved the adrenaline the night before travel and the quiet thrill of takeoff. Still, I had a very traditional idea about traveling — big wallet, detailed spreadsheets, and the right company.

Then one summer, a friend told me she’d backpacked Europe solo on $3,000. Her experience inspired me to do the same — three weeks, alone, no plan but a map and a small pack. It taught me that the best trips aren’t the ones planned to perfection, but the ones you’re willing to just go lightly with.
